OCADVSA’s Silent Witness Display
Wednesday, Oct. 20th
NWOSU-Enid campus ● 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The YWCA and Northwestern Oklahoma State University will be hosting a traveling exhibit from the Oklahoma Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. Comprised of hundreds of life-size red silhouettes representing individuals from Oklahoma killed as a result of domestic violence, the exhibit is a powerful reminder of the impact this epidemic has on our communities. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
2nd Annual “Remember My Name” Balloon Release
Monday, Oct. 25th
YWCA south lawn, by cross display ● 12:00-12:30 p.m.
The YWCA Board of Directors will host a balloon release and small prayer service in recognition of the 44 individuals killed in 2009 as a result of domestic violence in Oklahoma. The names of the individuals will be read and balloons will be released in their memory. Refreshments will be served, and the community is invited to attend.
3rd Annual “Every Home a Safe Home” community outreach
Friday, Oct. 29th
Community-wide ● 6-7 p.m
The Garfield County Domestic Violence Task Force is coordinating the 3rd Annual Every Home a Safe Home community outreach event.Members of the Task Force and community volunteers will gather on corners throughout Enid to promote the message that every home in Enid should be a safe home, and that non-violence is a community value. Volunteers are needed in order to make a visual impact about what the Task Force stands for, and the vision we have for our community.
