Donating Items
Make a Difference with Your Donations
Your gently used clothing, household items, and essentials provide comfort and stability to survivors while helping strengthen our community. Every item you give supports safety, healing, and a fresh start for those in need.
-
Take a moment to check your clothing and household items before donating. We're grateful for your generosity, and ensuring your items are free of rips, stains, strong odors (like smoke or mildew), damage, or heavy wear helps us provide quality goods to those in need.
The individuals we serve are starting over with very little and simply don’t have the tools, supplies, or time to fix or clean donated items. That’s why it’s so important that everything is ready to use as-is when it arrives.
-
We aim to offer items that meet the current needs of those we serve. This means clothing and accessories that are both modern and appropriate for the season. For example, donating coats in the winter or shorts in the summer ensures that people receive what they truly need right now.
We also ask that donated items reflect current styles and practical use. While older or vintage items may hold sentimental value, they often aren’t useful for the individuals and families we support. Current, gently used, everyday essentials are the most impactful.
-
All items should be clean and ready to use when donated. Clothing should be freshly laundered, and household goods like shoes, purses, or small appliances should be wiped down and in working order.
YWCA Enid does not have the capacity to clean, wash, or repair donations. We rely on our generous donors to provide items that are immediately usable, as only clean, functional donations can truly meet the needs of those we serve. -
Please pack your donations in bags or boxes that are easy to carry and not too heavy. Overfilled or oversized containers can be difficult to handle, especially since our dedicated volunteers come with different levels of strength and mobility. Thoughtful packing helps everyone assist safely and makes sorting your donations quicker and smoother.
-
Taking an extra minute to label your donation bags or boxes, such as “Women’s Clothes Size L” or “Kitchen Items,” helps our team sort items quickly and accurately. This small effort speeds up the distribution process so your donations reach people faster, especially during high-need times.
-
We accept donations Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM at our loading dock. Dropping off during these hours allows our team to assist you with unloading and to personally thank you for your support. After-hours donations can sometimes be damaged by weather or go unattended. We truly appreciate you coming during these designated times.
-
Have large furniture or a full truck load of items to donate? Call us first at 580-234-7581 to schedule a drop-off time. This allows us to prepare space, to ensure we have staff available to help, and make sure the items are a good fit for our current needs.
Any furniture donations must be scheduled to meet and drop off at our storage facility.
