Calling All Volunteers, Survivor Services, YWCA Enid

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community. YWCA Enid has an array of opportunities for you to become involved as much or as little as your schedule allows – recurring opportunities, special events, program support and more. We would love your help supporting the victims and families we serve.

We need YOU to VOLUNTEER!

My Sister's Closet & Project Cinderella

Help empower women by supporting our FREE boutique and formalwear programs. Volunteers assist with:

  • Organizing and sorting incoming donations

  • Stocking the shops and keeping items neat, organized, and seasonally appropriate

  • Assisting shoppers preparing for interviews, events, or prom.

These programs directly benefit community members in need of affordable, quality items.

General Office Work & Maintenance

Behind-the-scenes help keeps our services running smoothly. Opportunities include:

  • Light groundskeeping and building maintenance

  • Filing, shredding, and organizing documents

  • Painting or helping with seasonal updates

  • Special projects as needed in our administrative offices

Perfect for individuals or groups who want to lend a hand with practical support.

Sexual Assault Response Advocate (SARA)

SARAs are trained volunteers who are on-call to respond when a survivor reports a sexual assault or rape. As a SARA, you will:

  • Provide emotional support during SANE exams and police interviews

  • Offer information about available resources and next steps

  • Help ensure survivors do not feel alone in their most vulnerable moments

No prior experience is required — comprehensive training is provided twice a year to prepare you for this important role. Interested volunteers are encouraged to attend an upcoming Open House to learn more about the program, meet current volunteers, and ask questions.

YWCA Board of Directors

Serve in a leadership role by joining our Board of Directors. Board members:

  • Oversee the mission, strategy, and financial health of the organization

  • Participate in fundraising and community outreach efforts

  • Serve on committees and attend monthly board meetings

  • Attend special events and advocate for the organization

  • Make a lasting impact in the lives of survivors and families in our community

Board terms are 3 years. Ideal for individuals passionate about nonprofit governance and long-term impact.

  • All volunteers must fill out an application with a photo ID for a background check prior to your first day volunteering.

To volunteer in My Sister’s Closet or Project Cinderella without adult supervision you must be 16. Volunteers under 16 are welcome to participate alongside a guardian, and both would be required to submit a volunteer application.

For Court Ordered Community Service hours, you need to provide contact information for your supervising authority. Approval for completing Community Service Hours in our Sorting room or Maintenance Department is contingent upon having no violent crimes on your record.

To volunteer as a SARA or in our Crisis Center shelter you must be an adult, approved by the program directors, and complete the required training before you can volunteer.

  • When a victim comes to the YWCA SANE Room, a SARA is provided for the victim. The volunteer has completed a SARA training as well as shadowed other experienced SARAs in order to be a reliable resource or any victim who seeks help. The SARA is there to provide several services to the victim including sharing information about options so they can make informed choices. They can be there to listen and for emotional support. They can also help to explain the paperwork process and the exam process in order to help comfort the victim. The SARA’s advocacy is trauma specific and they are trained to listen to and believe the victim. They are not there to judge or investigate. SARAs are volunteers of the YWCA Enid, and sign up periodically to be on call 24-hours a day.
